Fair use is a copyright law that limits the use of copyrighted material. It is based on free speech rights provided by the first amendment to the US constitution. One of the rights accorded to the owner of the copyrighted is the right to reproduce or to authorize other to reproduce the work in copies. The distiction between fair use and infringement may be uncler and not clearly defined. There is no specific number of words, lines or notes that may safely be taken without permission. I did not run into any licensing issues.
