I still don't fully understand the html language. Like I stated in my previous post I would need to take this class by itself. Carrying a full course load like I did is reflective of the work that could have been 100 times better in this class and my knowledge of the content. Hopefully when I graduate, I will not be in charge of designing training sessions that need to be conveyed via internet. Most companies now a days, have separate people to do that and all you need to do is learn the content.
I would love to have a better understanding of this. I am some what there since we completed our own websites. The only thing that I have had a hard time with is the inbedding of the videos.

Blog #8-Learning Experience
I wish I had enough time to learn more about website development and url's, html's, etc. All of this information is foreign to me and probably remain that way since I don't have to create websites or teach them to others. In my current position I don't need to access the web or go to alot of training classes to remain current on the recent development of websites. I tried to do some outside research on sites that help you in understanding development better but since I am technology challenge (putting it nicely) those site confused me more. I think that the next time I have to take any technology class like this I will take it by itself. I was carrying five classes this quarter and I can tell that it hurt my understanding of the materials that were presented in class. Thank God for Bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blog #7-Websites (use of videos)
The first site that I go to often is http://youtube.com. This is one of my favorite sites. You can catch up on videos that you don't get a chance to see and old videos that they don't play anymore on MTV or BET. The only thing that I don't like about this site is that some of the video quality is not great. I understand that everyday people are sending in their own videos but there should be some screening process that determines if the quality is not good then it should not be submitted. But since it is a free site that thrives off of the public interest, what can you do?
The second site that I go to often is http://yahoo.com. They have a whole section dedicated to music. I do appreciate the fact that they keep current on their videos and the clarity is great. The only thing I don't like is the pop ups.
The last site that I would like to explore more of is http://msn.com. There music section is just like yahoo's. I don't got to that one often because I always use yahoo.

Blog #6-Podcatcher
I only explored the podcast that we did in class. To be truthful I still don't have a full understanding of this feature. If I am correct is has to do with videos? I had to access the podcast from the lab (not able to download it at home). Looking through my classmates sites, there were alot of variations that I could choose from that will be of interest to me also.

Here is the link to my delicisious account http://del.icio.us/ctoler1920. I did not get a chance to fully investigate this site. I like how it takes you directly to your favorite sites. It is a window into other peoples world, just like our developing websites.

Blog #3-My website creation
I have no idea what my site will be like. Ultimately, I would like to have just a little bit about myself (things I like to do, websites I like to surf), a link to OSU (since I will be a student for at least two and a half more years), a link to to my sorority and a link if I can find it to my favorite group 112. I don't have a particular design in mind yet. I want my target audience to be lovers of the sites that I have. If you are not, then it would be great information for you so you will turn into a lover. I don't want my content to be overwhelming.
My biggest challenge right now is remembering what we did last week and applying it to future classes. For example, I just put the name of the site in my introduction and it took you to that site (without the http). In the second blog I could not remember how to do that so I had to add the http to get to the site.
I do want to figure out how to put up some flashing prompts. Just one or two. If you put too many of them it will be too distracting.

Blog #2-Links
I have a few websites that I love to navigate. The first on is a discussion board on http://archwired.com. It is a message board where people go to discuss the trials and tribulations of getting braces. I will have to make that journey in about three weeks. I just joined a couple of weeks ago but it is a very informative site. The only thing I don't like about this site is the front page. The text is kind of small. They don't have too many pictures on the site but they could use a few more.
The next site I love to navigate is http://stuff4greeks.com. It is a site where people in sororities and fraternities can purchase merchandise and have it customized. The layout of this site is perfect to me. They have a photo gallery section where it seems like the photos are digital. All the pictures are crystal clear. It is set up like a book and you can just click the page number and go to that image. All the other navigation keys are on one side of the site and they have pictures to correspond to the section you are going to enter.
The last site is http://blackexpressions.com. It is a book club that has a lot of African American fiction and history books. I like that they have a picture of the cover of the book under the name instead of just listing the name but on the other hand it makes the site look a little crowded. The layout is has the type of books on the side and when you click on one that book type appears in the middle of the page. I think that they could have used the space on the side instead of putting ads there.

Blog #1-Introduction
It's me again, here in Fawn's class for a third time! I guess a third times a charm, right? I am considered a senior in the Techincal Education and Training program here at OSU. I hope that I only have a few more quarters until graduation day. Then I hope I am admitted to the Workforce and Development Masters Program here. I know I have said this before but this is all new to me. I have been to several sites but I have never created a site of my own but I do have a page on facebook. I don't know yet to what extent I will be using websites once I get out into the professional world of training.
The picture you see to above is of my sorority Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. I love it to death. I work very hard especially with my sisters servicing the community. If you want to learn more about this wonderful organization click on the name above! Last but definitely not least I have to mention the best singing group ever....112! I love them so much!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are a couple of pictures of these wonderfully talented men from the ATL!

Blog #9-Understanding
I don't think that I will ever know what I am doing when it comes to photoshop. That is supposed to be an easy program to learn but for me it was very difficult. I would think that making a video would be hard but it wasn't. All the skills and applications I won't know by name but if I tryed to do them in class I think that it will come to me. I am a very hands on person and I have to actually attempt things with my hands to fully understand the concept. I just hope that none of the photoshop information comes up in my next class with Fawn!

Blog #8-Use of video
I must say that the video that Eric, Cindy and I made was very good. I thought that this project would be extremely hard but it was not that bad. It was very time consuming with the editing. Our video is of my sorority's step team and a performance that we did in June 06'. We (the sorority) thought that if we had an intro we could use it to send to other schools that were looking for step teams for their step show. We have been finding out that the majority of the committees for step shows want you to have a video or dvd of a past performance. For myself I made extra copies of the show with the intro to give to members of the team and I used Bill's expertise to make a cover for the dvd! (Just as an extra note, Bill is so wonderful to work with. He is very patient with people like myself who are technically challenged LOL)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blog #7-Video
Our group came up with something simple, like making cookies. Since all of us are in corporate training we won't get to use this new tool unless it was in our personal lives. I know I have been working with Bill in the computer and he has been helping me edit my step show video and that has been rough (just like photoshop!). I have a lot of different versions that start in different places and end in different places. I finally have the correct version and all we have to do is put our taped intro (Thanks Eric!!) in front of the previously shot footage and we have a video. I may actually get to use this for shows that we may enter that will require us to have taped footaged.

Blog #6-Creating your video
The process of creating this video is to me like the process of learning photoshop. Since this is new for me I feel like a total idot! Lucky I have people in my group who are very laid back. The people in my group are Eric and Cindy. They are both in the same program as myself (Corporate Training). I suggested to them that we take a video that was shot of me in a step show performance this past June and add an intro to the front to introduce the show. I am very thankful for Bill (computer tech) for helping me learn some of the trick of the trade.
Eric, Cindy and myself are working very well together. We all have three class together this quarter and some from last quarter. So I am luck that they asked me to be in the group.
Unfortunately, since the snow has the school shut down for a couple of days and my God son about to be born, time is of the essence. I still need to find time to finish the editing and shoot the intro with my group members.

Blog #5-Contemporary literacy and learning
I think that graphic design and page layout plays a big role in learning. Some adult learners may be visual learners. They may see the pictures next to a story and get the jist of what the story is about from looking at the pictures. You as the creator can tell a story by using only pictures. Children disfuse stories by the way a book is constructed. When I was a pre-school teacher I would have my children read to me and the other students in the class. Even thought it was obvious that they did not know what the words were but they felt as thought they did because they were looking at the pictures and telling the story.
When I think of constructing a newletter or graphic homework assignment, I think of what items are similar and I group them together because they are relivant to each other. I think once I am fluent in photoshop, I will have a better handle on putting designs together instead of cutting and pasting all the time.

Blog #4-Newsletters
I am excited to learn how to do newsletters with photoshop. I have had some experience with newsletters but not in conjuction with photoshop. What I mainly do is type the information I need and then do a cut and paste (physically with scissors and glue) and then run the amount of copies I need. I know learning to do my regular newsletters or announcements with photoshop will cut the production in half. I will have everything at my finger tips. I will need a little help with croping and making the words fit with the picture because not all the images are going to go from left to right. This way makes the finish product look much cleaner and visually appealing because you can google different clip art and insert.
I must say that I am starting to some what understand photoshop, some. It is not as bad as the first day/project. I am glad that Fawn is patient enough to explain things that I don't understand.

Blog #3-Photoshop editing
Of course, I am still having trouble with photoshop. I am still not able to get my projects done at home because the program will not install correctly on my computer. So I am having to send myself pictures via email and do some handy work at the computer lab.
I don't know if I will be using photoshop professionally. I work for the Department of Transportation and they do all of their image work in a specific office. If there is a flyer that needs to be put together, they have a specific office that handles that. The only way I can see me using photoshop is for my sorority for flyers or with the high school that I volunteer at. I am going to try some editing for the Dublin Scioto because in about two and a half months they are going to be performing in a talent show (I am putting together their routine) and I want to have a group picture of the steppers on the flyer.

Blog #2-Photshop Nightmare
I am having the worst trouble figuring out how to use photoshop. I did as I was instructed and everything was fine when I was in the computer lab. But as soon as I took the file home and downloaded it to my computer it did not want to work for me. I am kind of glad that I am taking this course because againg I am using programs that I would never use and now I am getting some exposure to them. Even thought I won't be an expert at the end of the quarter (LOL)!! It is just frustrating!
For my images I choose my nephew Kalen. I think that he looks like a chocolate teddy bear so I put his head on the teddy bears body. I did not fit perfectly because in his picture he had on a jacket and I could not crop the collar out. But if you had not seen his picture before you would think that it belong there.
My second image I used the beach as the background and I put a pair of legs and a whale tale on the shore to make it seem like they were washed in by the waves. I also put some comments.
My last image was that of a lake with a forest in the background but I put a UFO in the sky saying "take me to your leader". All of my images were not that clean and I am still learning how to make them neat but it is hard when the photoshop program does not work at home and I have to sit in the computer lab for hours.
But I got them done!!!! Hopefully they look ok.
